Getting Bigger

We went to the doctor again yesterday, because they want to make sure she is gaining weight. And let me tell you she is! Here are her stats at 22 days old.
Weight: 9 lbs. 4 oz (66th percentile)
Height: 23 in (98th percentile)
Head Circumference: 14.5 in (55th percentile)

We couldn't leave the doctor's office without this picture. Cars is one of Brandon's favorite movies :)

I am now putting her down for her naps in her crib. She is getting so tall that I don't know how much longer she will fit in the bassinet.

So cute together!

I figure I need to be in some pictures with her- even if I look crappy :)

Headaches Galore

So, I feel like I have a lot to catch up on. Last week, I think Monday, I started getting a really bad headache that wouldn't go away, even with Tylenol and Ibuprofen. It progressed throughout the week, and was eventually in the back of my head affecting my neck. By Friday afternoon it had gotten so bad that I finally tried calling my doctor. The office was closed, so he was out, but the on-call doctor recommended going to the emergency room. After awhile my mom finally persuaded me to go to the ER. She came down and watched Abbie, while Brandon and I went. It took forever and we were there til about 2 am. They did a CAT scan- thankfully nothing is wrong. The doctor determined that they are tension headaches- he said probably because of my change in sleep and breastfeeding, etc. And then it finally occurred to me that duh, I only had a baby a couple of weeks ago, and my body is still healing. Yet, I have been going places, and doing things and I probably just need to rest. So, my goal for the week is to take a nap everyday.
Sorry, that was long and boring. Here is what you really want: pictures!

Abbie helping daddy work :)

Our cutie in her super cute hat!
Thanks Whitney!

Another one of her funny faces ;)

All bundled up in her snowsuit.
Yeah, unfortunately it did snow over the weekend.

Taking a nap with great-grandpa McDaniel.

Abbie with the birthday boy!

Festival of Colors

So, everyone knows that to have the true BYU experience you have to go to the Festival of Colors. Unfortunately it always falls over Brandon's birthday, so we have never gone.
This year I decided that I wanted to surprise him and take him for his birthday. It wasn't much of a surprise after I told him to wear clothes he didn't mind getting dirty.

We ended up parking super far away, and so had to walk about 20 minutes, in the cold, to get to the Hindu temple, where it was held.

The Hindu temple. It was crazy to see so many people all covered in different colors!

Here is our before picture.

The throwing of the chalk was so cool. It was like we were in a big cloud of pink dust. This picture was taken after.

The end results!

It was really fun!
Now I have some laundry to do :)

New this week...

So, this week we started doing some 'tummy time'. I am not sure how much she likes it- at least she doesn't cry :)

We also set up her vibrator/ rocker chair this week.
She went from this
to
this
Look comfortable?
Well, she must have been, because she slept like this for awhile.

We spend of lot of time hanging out with each other :)

Today, while feeding her she grabbed the bottle with her hands.
I thought it was pretty funny!

Lately, she has been smiling or almost smiling a lot.
She is super cute!!!

And, can I just say how frustrating the BYU basketball game was!
I can't believe they let me down :(

2 week stats

Yesterday we went to Abbie's 2 week doctor appointment.
Height: 22.25 inches- 97th percentile
Weight: 7 lbs 13.5 oz- 35th percentile
They also did a normal exam and everything looks great!

So this is the second time (out of the 4 times we've been to the doctor) that she had an accident. She ended up having a blow out diaper and unfortunately Brandon was the recipient of part of it. It was pretty funny and disgusting!

They also did a PKU test. Because her heel is all bone and no fat, it took a while to get enough drops of blood out. She did not enjoy that! She didn't scream, it was more of a whimper- which made me feel really bad for her and at the same time was really funny (whoops, probably a bad thing to think as her mom).

Happy little baby!
The little red bandage was where they poked her.

More of the BYU Baby!

A few days ago we went to the library and got a bunch of random picture books to read to Abbie. Being a school teacher, I feel very strongly about reading to children often, starting at a young age. She doesn't really react when we read to her, but its fun and is getting us into a good habit.

Friday morning we found Abbie sleeping like this. Normally she is bundled like a burrito and doesn't have free reign of her arms. She now loves playing with her arms and hands. Isn't she adorable? She does sleep really well. The last few nights she has only gotten up twice during the night to eat and then goes right back to sleep. I think I am sleeping better now than I did before she was born.

We are very into the whole March Madness thing. Which is funny because we are not sports people, and never watch basketball. But the competition is fun. We made a bet that whose ever bracket loses has to make dinner for a week. At this point, I am winning. Let's hope it ends up that way.
And of course here is Abbie rooting for BYU.

Today was Abbie's first time going to church. She was so good! And we finally got a family picture! We also went to my in-laws' stake conference last night and got to meet Elder Dallin H. Oaks. Abbie was only 12 days old and already was lucky enough to meet an apostle.

We are still having trouble with the whole breastfeeding thing. Sometimes she latches right and there are no problems and then sometimes she can't or won't latch on and ends up just crying until we give her a bottle. I have had help from people and it seems like I am doing what I should. I'm still hoping that we can get this figured out- hopefully soon!

I'm obsessed...

with this little girl!!!

I have a feeling this blog is going to become all about Abbie! I can't help but take a ton of pictures of her because she is so dang cute!!! She is so fun to watch even when she sleeps.

This was after her bath yesterday. And let me just say there was not near as much crying this time. Unfortunately while taking this picture she had time to pee all over the bathrobe.

Another highlight of yesterday- her umbilical cord finally fell off and she now has a cute, little bellybutton :)

Getting ready for bedtime with daddy ;)

Unfortunately I didn't really take any pictures today. That is because we went on a little adventure. Well, really we just went up to Salt Lake for a few hours. We went to watch my sister's school play and to hangout. It was really nice to get out of the house. I love being a stay-at-home mom but I have a really hard time staying inside all day everyday. When it gets a little warmer outside I think we will go on walks. But until then, we will have to find other ways to get out.
