Princess Festival

The West Jordan Chick-Fil-A held a princess party and Abbie wanted to go to it so bad. It was scheduled for the same time I needed to drop Brandon off at the airport for his work trip to Seattle*.
So, Grandma Ellie, Syd, and Manda took her. She absolutely loved it. She learned how to properly drink tea (lemonade), how to curtsy, and other things. We also won a free family pass to the Princess Festival and a free kids meal.

Then Saturday we went to the Princess Festival. Once again Abbie loved it! The characters were awesome and made Abbie feel comfortable. She was able to meet Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, Snow White, and lots of other princesses/characters, and walk in the parade. She was having so much fun we finally bribed her to leave with a snow cone. It was a really cute event and fun for all of us.

* I guess I might at well blog about Brandon's trip to Seattle here since I mentioned it.  He found out the week before that he would have to go on the trip. He left Tuesday night and then got back Friday night.  I was really worried about him leaving for many reasons: scary being home at night, sad to not see him for 3 days, worried about how Abbie would go to bed at night and how she would react in the morning when its usually their playtime, I wouldn't be able to go running in the morning, etc..  It turned out to be better than expected. We were safe at night, and I got the whole bed to myself :) and we were able to talk on the phone an skype. My mom was nice enough to come over each morning and watch the kiddos while I went for my morning run. It was also helpful that they were all off school/ work so that we weren't lonely and could see them everyday.
Brandon was excited to go because he had never been to Seattle before. In the evenings after work he was able to do a little bit of sight-seeing.
I am glad it was a quick trip and that things are back to normal.

Lucas - 11 months

I can't believe my little boy is almost a year old!
* Sleeping through the night (7pm-7am)
* 4 front teeth + 4 more half teeth
* Still wearing 6-9 month onesies, and 3-6 month shorts/pants
* So close to walking. He can take steps, but doesn't do it very often. He usually just plops down to crawl- probably because it's faster.

* He loves anything stick-like (pens, markers, forks, wands, knitting needles)
* says 'mama' and 'dada' and babbles alot
* runs away when daddy says "I'm gonna get you!"
* Church is hard- 3 hours is a long time to be quiet and semi-still
* Gets into everything! You can usually tell where Luke has been based on the messy trail he leaves. He loves the toilet. I'm pretty good at keeping the bathroom door shut, but sometimes Abbie leaves it open...

* Has no stranger anxiety. He is pretty chill with whoever talks to him or holds him.
* Loves his sippy cup. Also, loves food! At meals he will usually eat at least some big people food, but still eats some baby food as well. Sometimes when I try to give him baby food he will refuse it or spit it out.

* As you can tell he is still lacking in the hair department. He still has the long mohawk hair down the middle of his head, and then peach fuzz everywhere else. And because it's blonde/see-through he sometimes looks bald. But, he is still very adorable!

*Did I already mention that he is an expert explorer. He tries really hard to climb up on things and sometimes succeeds.
Lucky for him, grandma Karen helped him finish climbing up the rest of the slide. :)
I sure love this little guy! I can't imagine life without him.

Daycation to Vernal

Saturday we spent the day in Vernal. We left around 10am. It took about 3 hours driving to get there. The kids, as usual, were very good in the car.
When we got there we went to the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum- basically the dinosaur museum. Abbie and Brandon both loved it! They thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Later in the afternoon we went to the wedding ceremony and reception of one of Brandon's good friends (our purpose in the whole Vernal excursion). The wedding was really nice.

We were also able to do a quick drive-by of the Vernal LDS Temple.

We got home around 9:30 pm after a fun, exhausting day.

Who wants cake?

These adorable kiddos do!

My sisters had an end of the school year BBQ party and we were invited. I think you could say that their favorite part of the night was the cake.

Yum, yum. Lick that plate clean. :)

This was Luke's first time eating cake, and boy did he love it!
