Party

We started off Luke's birthday by opening presents and playing with the balloons in his room. He actually had no interest in opening the presents, so Abbie was more than happy to do it for him.

Then we had a birthday breakfast of chocolate sprinkle donut holes and cereal.

Afterwards we got ready and went to church. Later that evening we had a birthday party with all the family.  Grandma Ellie made this super cute monkey cake. We made the party monkey themed because he is a little monkey climber.

We had a BBQ in the backyard. Yum.

Then we played guess how old Lucas is in each picture.

And then had a pinata. Once again Luke wasn't interested, but Abbie loved it.

We finally had birthday cake and ice cream. Luke was very interested in this part. Sadly I didn't get a video. We just put the cake on the ground and then let him at it.

And last but not least, he got to open all the presents from the rest of the family. When I say that I mean Abbie opened and Luke sort of played with them.

Happy birthday sweet boy! I can't wait to see what you learn and how much you change this next year!

My new hobby

Ok, so I randomly signed us up for a color me rad 5k at the end of June. About 3 weeks before I finally decided I should start 'training' so that I wouldn't be lame and have to walk the whole thing. I got some how-to-get-started advice from a friend and then set a goal to run every morning. The first day I ran, really I mean jogged, 9 minutes. Each day I increased by 30 seconds to a minute. By race day I was able to run about 19 minutes. This is huge people!! I have never in my life been a runner, not even when I was fit in high school.

Race Day: June 21st
The race was held downtown Salt Lake.
Thanks to Todd, Karen, and my Dad for meeting us there to watch the kiddos and cheer us on.
Before picture.

After picture.

I would guess that we ended up running about half the way and fast walking the other half. It was actually really hard. I am so glad Brandon was there to push me and help me cross that finish line.

I am still jogging everyday. For a while I plateaued and was having a hard time increasing my time. But as soon as I bought a sports watch with a timer, I was better able to pace myself and set a route. Now I am up to running 28 minutes. I want to get to the point where I can run at least a whole 5k (hopefully sometime this fall).

June

At the nursery to buy plants for our flower garden

After we planted

Yay, we finally have stools. We got them from a yard sale and then I spray painted them black. I love having them, Abbie uses them all the time.

Lucas loves playing in Abbie's dress up box

Fun at the splash park

my boys

Sometimes the princesses have to go to the doctor which is apparently up on top of the toy bins

Travis' high school graduation

Swimming pool. Luke had more fun out of the water exploring than in the water stuck in his floaty thing.

2 ninja turtles and a pink princess

Yummy corn

We have pests in our garden :)

BBQ and fun at our neighbors' house

Picking raspberries. They were so delicious!

This is how baby cousins hang out.

Enjoying a trip to costco :)

He is always so happy and just likes to roam and explore.

Daddy took Abbie and her bike to ride over the big bridge crossing Bangerter Highway.

Getting so big. Almost a year old!

Playing in a random rain storm with Syd.

Messy, but cute, face.

Park time. Abbie didn't like Luke playing on the rope because it moved her around.

The first tomato from our garden :)

I guess someone wasn't really having a nap... :)

Haha, how many toys can you fit down your swimming suit?
